Processor startup Efficient Computer announced a $97M Series B at a $650M valuation, bringing total funding to $173M. The round was led by TQ Ventures with Eclipse, Union Square Ventures, and Toyota Ventures participating.
- The company claims to build the most energy-efficient general-purpose processor ever, the Electron E1, now in volume production for physical AI and datacenter workloads.
- Its thesis: energy is the binding constraint on AI — robots can only operate minutes instead of hours due to compute power draw, and future datacenters each need dedicated power plants.
- The capital will fund volume shipments of the Electron E1 and scaling the architecture to datacenter-class performance, claiming a 10x+ improvement in energy consumption over today's systems.
