OpenAI halves $200 Pro plan usage value, cutting multiplier from 20X to 10X

OpenAI restructured its subscriptions: the $200 Pro tier now grants 10X base usage instead of 20X—netting out at roughly half the dollar value in API spend compared to the old plan. The new hierarchy is Plus = 1X, Pro 100 = 5X, Pro 200 = 10X. Existing Pro subscribers keep the legacy 20X multiplier for a limited time plus compensating credits. The $200 Pro plan reopens to new signups, the 5-hour rate limit is removed, and OpenAI says the change aligns subscription value with GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna API prices dropping to 50% of previous levels. Developers like theo called it painful despite the transparency.
