Google SVP of Knowledge & Information Nick Fox says DMA enforcement forced the biggest reduction in search quality in the company's 28-year history, calling it "terrible" and "sad." He argues the changes hurt privacy — Google must hand search query data to competitors — and forced removal of spam protections like the site reputation abuse policy in Europe. He also doubled down on disagreeing with click studies on AI Overviews.
