Blood Test Could Replace Tumor Biopsy for Personalized Neoantigen Vaccines, New Study Finds

Personalized neoantigen vaccines have already improved outcomes in refractory melanoma and shown promise in pilot studies of pancreatic cancer, glioblastoma, renal cell carcinoma and triple-negative breast cancer — but they required a tumor biopsy to identify antigens. A new study highlighted by Eric Topol shows the needed antigen information can now be obtained from a simple blood sample, potentially lowering the barrier for personalized cancer vaccines.
