AI researcher Afinetheorem slammed the "sovereign AI" narrative on X: companies whose whole business is selling the world's 157th-best model as "sovereign" while collecting government dollars spread "AI is slowing down" claims for sales reasons. He stresses the big frontier labs see the opposite — no slowdown — but worries governments will believe the pitch and act on it.
