A Reddit user reports opening ChatGPT on a Plus subscription — the tier that's supposed to be ad-free — to find a banner above the composer offering to help create ads targeted at ChatGPT Go and Free users.
The poster highlights two ironies: the ads only run on Free and Go tiers, yet the pitch landed on the window of someone paying for the tier that never sees them; and it appeared hours before DevDay. "Somewhere between 'we're building AGI' and 'want to buy ads for your own chat window' somebody lost the plot." Unclear whether this is a broad rollout or a targeted experiment; the thread asks if others are seeing it.
