Undoing one AI edit without losing the rest: change-record replay with staleness checks
memokris · reddit · 2026-09-29
A discussion of change tracking in AI editing: three edits land in different parts of a draft, and we want to undo the third without losing the other two. The author argues for keeping a change record per action. When an old patch is replayed after manual edits, a staleness check skips changes whose expected text no longer matches at the saved span, while other matching changes still apply. Overlapping or dependent changes still need an ordering and conflict-resolution policy.
