Germany's Microagi has hired Animesh Garg, a Georgia Tech professor and former NVIDIA researcher, as chief research officer, Business Insider exclusively reports. Seven members of his research group join through Microagi's acquisition of a startup the group had been building in stealth; terms were not disclosed.
Garg will lead post-training work, adapting general-purpose robotics models into task-capable systems. Microagi raised $55M this summer. The move highlights the escalating talent war as billions flow into physical AI, with university robotics researchers increasingly leaving academia for startups.
