NOOP frees WHOOP from subscriptions: local Bluetooth, your health data stays on-device
mhdfaran · x · 2026-09-29
A developer built an unofficial app called NOOP that connects directly to the WHOOP strap over Bluetooth — no WHOOP account, no cloud, no subscription, no telemetry.
- Recovery, strain, HRV and sleep are all computed locally, and you can import existing WHOOP and Apple Health history so data isn't trapped in a vendor app.
- An optional AI coach works with your own API key or a local model via Ollama.
- Builds exist for macOS, Android and iOS. WHOOP 4.0 is the properly tested version; 5.0/MG can stream live heart rate but deeper metrics remain experimental.
The author notes it's unofficial and not a medical device. The idea is simple: you bought the hardware, your body created the data — you should own both.
