Forethought co-founder Will MacAskill argues that even if superintelligence could accelerate growth far faster, a good post-AGI society should deliberately pace growth to roughly doubling every year or two. He envisions a "viatopia" — not a utopia with a known blueprint, but an intermediate state where society can reflect and steer itself over time. He also believes AGI can eliminate tedious work, freeing people to figure out what they actually want to do next.
