An indie developer shared how they landed their first overseas sale:
- Fast launch: Found an untapped search keyword, shipped a site the same day, got 40+ clicks, then noticed ChatGPT steadily driving most of the traffic, with new signups arriving every hour.
- Ship first, polish later: Instead of over-deliberating on model choice, vendors, and pricing, they got the core feature working, copied a competitor's plan/pricing structure, and set codex loose with a goal to run autonomously.
- First sale: Several users created orders but nobody paid. After asking codex to diagnose the issue, they suspected weak value framing in the plan copy — rewriting it immediately produced their first paying customer.
- The whole thing happened during a holiday trip, with voice-input vibe coding from a paddleboard; a longer retrospective is promised.
