Stanford lands $25M NIH grant to build AI center for personalized dementia care

The National Institute on Aging has awarded Stanford a five-year, $25 million grant to establish SU-AITC, a center exploring how AI can improve care for people with Alzheimer's and related dementias (AD/ADRD), in partnership with VA Palo Alto and Stanford HAI.
Key idea: beyond memory loss, symptoms like agitation, sleep trouble and depression hit quality of life hardest, yet matching patients to the right evidence-based therapy is slow trial-and-error. The center will train AI algorithms to analyze rich individual data and recommend tailored treatments and aging interventions, compensating for clinicians' limited assessment time.
