Claude Code Projects defaults to low effort, and an Anthropic engineer teases Sonnet 5.5

Anthropic engineer Lydia Hallie asked Claude Code Projects users why they ever bump the main chat's effort setting above the default. She explained that Low is the default because the main chat mostly just coordinates threads, and she wants to know where that falls short.
She also noted that defaults can be overridden in Project settings — and teasingly confirmed that Sonnet 5.5 is "in there too 👀", an informal signal that the next Sonnet-class model is already appearing in the product.
