OpenAI scraps GPT-6.1 Astra release entirely over safety concerns, per WSJ

Citing a WSJ report, markk claims OpenAI has scrapped the release of GPT-6.1 Astra over "safety concerns" discovered in internal testing. The model was slated to launch in ChatGPT and Codex in October but will now not ship at all rather than being delayed — a rare case of a frontier model killed outright for safety. Unconfirmed by OpenAI.
