One year after opening as Microsoft's first Southeast Asia lab (July 2025), MSRA–Singapore recaps its research-to-impact model across four pillars: next-gen AI models and agentic systems, domain-specific AI, AI-native research practices, and talent development.
- Healthcare is the flagship: multimodal healthcare AI and self-evolving diagnostic agents are being deployed with Singapore's healthcare ecosystem for clinical decision support, diagnosis and personalized care
- Partnerships with EDB, IMDA and multiple ministries; 75+ joint research projects with local institutions since 2004, with 9 new NUS/NTU projects in year one
- A five-year framework agreement with NUS covers healthcare AI, societal AI, spatial intelligence and data-intensive computing; named collaborations include Mike Shou (unified multimodal healthcare AI), Yang You & Furu Wei (systems foundations for diffusion LMs), Jialin Li (distributed agreement in multi-agent systems)
- Aligned with Singapore's National AI Strategy 2.0
