Google Trends' #1 US region for every query is tiny Cheyenne, Wyoming — likely bot traffic

SEO consultant Lily Ray checked a dozen unrelated terms in Google Trends (US, past 12 months) and found every single one's #1 region was Wyoming, all driven by Cheyenne, a town of 67K.
Even accounting for volume-based normalization, that pattern is hard to explain with human searches. Cheyenne happens to be a data center hub (Microsoft just announced a major expansion there), so she suspects heavy non-human traffic. Her conclusion: some of the past year's anomalous search-volume surges — the "SEO boom" — may not come from real humans at all.
