Liu Wei, founder of miHoYo (Genshin Impact), said he expects the company to become a significant player in China's LLM race within 2-3 years. He revealed miHoYo could invest up to 100 billion RMB ($14B) over three years on AI, saying failure would just be "a big firework," and stressed that without commitment to compute and scaling, no team can reach top-tier model capability. The company held an AI foundation model tech sharing and recruiting event in Beijing in May.
