Anthropic: start big projects with Opus, use Sonnet 5.5 for balanced everyday tasks

In its Sonnet 5.5 launch thread, Anthropic offered official guidance: start with Opus for large projects and use Sonnet where you need to balance quality, speed, and cost. Claude apps default to medium effort while Platform defaults to high; cranking Sonnet to max loses that balance and Opus may be the better choice.
