NVIDIA Launches Open Agent Safety Platform with OpenShell Runtime and BlueField-4 Watchdog

NVIDIA announced the Open Agent Safety Platform, an open software platform and reference system design for full-stack agent governance from testing to deployment, joined by Anthropic, Microsoft, Salesforce, CrowdStrike, Figure, Perplexity, JPMorgan and more.
Core components:
- OpenShell (open source): a secure runtime boundary on NVIDIA Vera CPUs that traces all agent actions and enforces policy; extensible to third-party platforms from Arm and Intel.
- Sentry: an out-of-band watchdog running on BlueField-4 DPUs that continuously monitors agent behavior and can quarantine boundary-violating agents within milliseconds.
The platform aims to let enterprises set verifiable boundaries for AI agents via hardware-level monitoring and an open runtime, with international cooperation on best practices.
