AMD Hits $1T Market Cap With Just 5%-7% of GPU Server Market — and the Author Says It's Still Undervalued

Analyst Beth Kindig argues AMD's new $1 trillion market cap still underprices the company. A quick history: AMD was near bankruptcy in 2014; Lisa Su's bet on the Zen architecture rescued it after years of losses (2012-2017). When Kindig first dubbed AMD a "Dark Horse," it held only 4% of data-center CPU share; it now rivals Intel for the top spot in x86 server CPUs. Su has said AMD has a "clear path to capturing more than 50% of server revenue market share" (from 40%) alongside a 60% data-center CAGR.

The core thesis: the same story is replaying in GPUs. AMD holds an estimated 5%-7% of the GPU server market versus Nvidia's 85%+, with market perception echoing the old Intel monopoly era. Moving from mid-single digits to 15%-20% share would represent a 2x-4x expansion in market position — no GPU crown required — and the market hasn't priced in that upside.
