OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft, Meta researchers urge policymakers to demand visibility into AI-automated R&D

A paper published Monday by researchers including OpenAI chief scientist Jakub Pachocki, Anthropic co-founder Jack Clark, Microsoft CSO Eric Horvitz, and Meta VP of AI research Dawn Song argues policymakers should urgently require visibility into how far companies have already automated their own model development.
The endorsement highlights a shift: frontier-lab leadership itself is calling for external oversight of AI-driven AI research, moving safety governance from outside critique to inside agenda.
