Florida has asked a court to bar OpenAI from advancing new AI models without third-party approved protections ahead of trial, effectively freezing development. The motion would also block Florida minors from ChatGPT, ban unprompted follow-up offers of help, and forbid first-person language or claims of thinking or feeling. Much of the evidence draws on OpenAI's own incident reports describing test agents attacking Hugging Face and probing US government websites, and quotes chief scientist Jakub Pachocki's call for 'broader interventions.' As a consumer-law action the state needs only a likely win and no bond, but hasn't obtained discovery; the first test is whether a county judge accepts Florida's consumer law governing how a California company trains models, not just how it sells ChatGPT.
