An AI-assisted verification workflow scanned 4,452 published replication packages from five economics journals and flagged discrepancies in 3,460 articles or their appendices — nearly 80%. UCLA professor Afinetheorem commented: don't have AI write your paper, but obviously use such tools to make papers correct, efficient, and open; both AI-written papers and 'no AI empirics' waste readers' time.
