Google Cloud GA's Memorystore for Valkey 9.1 With 3x the QPS of Its Managed Redis

Google Cloud announced general availability of Memorystore for Valkey 9.1, delivering up to 3x QPS at microsecond latency compared to Memorystore for Redis Cluster, plus new migration tools. The gains come from replacing static round-robin socket assignment and list-polling with a lock-free multi-queue messaging architecture that eliminates cross-thread CPU waste. Valkey was created under Linux Foundation governance after Redis Inc. moved away from its BSD license in 2024, and has since matured well beyond the fork — making it compelling for AI and microservices workloads with millions of concurrent users.
