X is testing X Calls, a full-scale group meeting platform rivaling Zoom and Google Meet.
- Instant calls, shareable meeting links/codes, and scheduled meetings with titles, descriptions, and invitees; integrates with Google Calendar and Microsoft Teams
- Lobby with camera/mic checks, plus reactions, custom backgrounds, interactive whiteboards, and live chat
- Hosts control access: everyone, verified org members, or approved participants only
- Biggest upgrade: runs on a new in-house backend replacing the old Periscope-based infrastructure
Currently in beta at x.com/i/meeting, public rollout may come soon.
