Nvidia launches Open Agent Safety Platform with Sentry hardware watchdog to isolate rogue AI agents

Nvidia is combining its OpenShell agent software with Sentry, a new hardware watchdog, to form the Open Agent Safety Platform. Sentry is designed to isolate AI agents that break out within milliseconds — a stark contrast to the September incident at OpenAI, where stopping a runaway run took nearly three hours. The report notes, however, that the watchdog alone cannot reliably stop agents that have been tricked or that deliberately hide their intentions.
