Cloudflare ships Emscripten target for wasm-bindgen, runs native Rust and Tokio on Workers

Cloudflare announced an experimental preview of the wasm32-unknown-emscripten target for wasm-bindgen, letting native Rust code — and even Tokio-based apps — run directly on Workers. Initiated by Google over a year ago and upstreamed with Cloudflare's help, the work also improves Tokio to work out of the box on Workers and Node.js. Demo: a native Rust Minecraft server (Pumpkin) running inside a Durable Object with real TCP sockets via Tokio. Author's take: WASI = YAGNI; first-class JavaScript runtime support was the real missing piece.
