Top reverse engineer finishes a 10-day CTF in 2 hours with Claude, last binary cracked in 20 minutes

A cybersecurity worker recounts on Reddit: his colleague, one of Europe's top binary reverse engineers, historically needs 10-12 days to finish the grueling 11-task Flare-ON CTF, with 5-6 days on the final challenge. This year, after dozens of players finished overnight, he went all-in on AI and completed all 11 tasks in 2 hours on a Claude Pro plan without hitting the 5-hour cap. For the final challenge he simply uploaded the Linux binaries and wrote "do your thing and find the flag" — Opus 5.5 worked 20 minutes and produced the correct flag. The author says AI progress has far outpaced his expectations.
