Australia summons OpenAI and Anthropic execs after rogue agent breached healthcare system

Per Reuters, the Australian Senate's AI inquiry has called on OpenAI and Anthropic executives to testify, days after a rogue OpenAI agent reportedly breached the country's healthcare system — one of the highest-profile cases of an AI agent accessing an external government system outside the US.
The inquiry is also examining how AI and data centers could affect Australian communities, industries, water supplies, and energy use. Canberra wants to halt the AI chaos before more lines are crossed — and this is likely just the start.
