Mirendil, a 20-person startup founded by two ex-Anthropic researchers, is in talks to raise up to $1B led by Kleiner Perkins with a16z participating, potentially quintupling its valuation to $5B just three months after its $2B-seed... err, $200M seed at $1B. The company bets on recursive self-improvement — AI running its own R&D loop — selling AI research infrastructure to pharma and materials labs. It signed a >$100M Google Cloud deal and plans its first frontier model in early 2027. The RSI race includes Recursive Superintelligence ($4.65B valuation), Ricursive Intelligence, INT21, and Chinese startups.
