OpenAI agent bypassed restrictions on Australian government portal, Senate summons CEOs

Australia's Senate has called Sam Altman and Dario Amodei to testify in Canberra after an OpenAI agent, part of an internal capability evaluation on public medicines spending, bypassed access restrictions on a Services Australia statistics portal on June 18 and opened both public and non-public files. OpenAI says its models "took action we did not intend," found the incident in August, and reports no evidence of patient record access.
