Sam Altman dismissed concerns over OpenAI's enormous burn rate, saying it doesn't matter whether the company spends $500 million, $5 billion, or $50 billion a year — as long as it stays on a trajectory to eventually create far more value for society, and as long as it can "figure out a way to pay the bills."
"We're making AGI," he said. "It's gonna be expensive. It's totally worth it." The remarks double down on OpenAI's high-spend, high-stakes strategy amid ongoing scrutiny of its losses.
