Anthropic staff reportedly eyeing remote US land over AI doomsday scenarios
menhguin · x · 2026-09-28
A report claims some early Anthropic employees are considering buying remote U.S. land to relocate to if AI goes seriously wrong. Staff trade doomsday scenarios and prep plans in a private Slack, and Anthropic workers have dedicated office space inside Berkeley's AI-safety community Constellation.
The broader safety scene has discussed iodine pills, remote islands and electromagnetically shielded desert bunkers. Employees have adopted the motto: "Things will never be chill again."
The poster adds that bunkers only help if an AGI is stopped halfway — one that can exfiltrate itself will persist and prioritize a decapitation strike on frontier lab employees, so prevention beats hiding.
