Developer techartist built a 3D Map Projector using Claude Opus 5.5: a glowing globe that projects Earth onto a cylinder, cone, or flat plane, then unrolls like paper on your desk.
Every flat map is a compromise. The demo uses Tissot circles to visualize exactly where each projection introduces stretching and distortion, making the tradeoffs between cylindrical, conic, and planar projections intuitively clear.
