AI author Nina Schick quotes investor Michael Arouet's take that Europe will become "an open-air museum with really good cheese and wine," and expands: European entrepreneurs and leaders have diagnosed the problem correctly for 15+ years, but parties across the spectrum haven't changed ruinous policies.
She argues AI and the re-emergence of the world of atoms — the need to build complicated physical things, all imbued with AI — means the gap is becoming a compounding exponential curve that Europe cannot close. When moralising replaces competence as the main driver of policy, the country and its citizens become weaker, poorer and more divided.
