Replying to Melanie Mitchell, Oxford professor Michael Bronstein argues the classic "stochastic parrots" critique of LLMs hasn't aged well even with charitable discounts, such as removing the complex software systems around LLMs. He adds there's nothing wrong about admitting mistakes.
