Experiment: Astra coordinating Opus 5.5 wins on quality but burns more tokens
pvncher · x · 2026-09-27
Replying to @kevinkern, @pvncher ran a small real-task experiment combining Opus 5.5 and Astra:
- Astra coordinating Opus 5.5 delivered the best overall result, but the parent agent can poll, duplicate planning and re-ingest context, burning tokens
- Opus 5.5 with Astra reviewing offered the best quality/cost balance
- Solo runs weren't far behind and cost much less
He warns that prompt choice strongly affects how much the parent agent waits around, and suggests making Opus a proper option in multi-agent tools if Astra leads. Results under many parallel threads remain untested.
