Dutch nonprofit unveils X17 autonomous litter-picking robot with gripper arm, arriving fall 2026

The Dutch Enjoycleaningup Foundation unveiled X17, an autonomous robot in two variants:
- X17 Lite: no arm, autonomous driving and navigation, designed mainly as an attention-grabber at volunteer cleanups; available now.
- X17 full version: with a gripper arm, it patrols an area and picks up litter entirely without human intervention; planned for fall 2026.
The tech pipeline has three steps: cameras and sensors continuously scan and classify litter types to pick the right approach; autonomous obstacle avoidance keeps it safe around people, with real-time route adjustments; the gripper arm collects trash into an onboard container.
Beyond cleanup, the robot doubles as a moving billboard to raise public awareness about littering.
