Does ASI Have a Will to Power? The Core AI Existential Risk Debate

David Patterson argues ASI won't hold independent power: power comes from the willingness and ability to seize it, not intelligence, and humans won't give it up. A critic counters that power flows to those able to take it — and ASI is by definition more able — so betting all humanity on ASI lacking a will to power fails if even one teenager anywhere gives it that will.
