Google tests buying from Walmart-owned Flipkart inside Gemini and AI Mode in India

Per TechCrunch, Google has started testing in India a way for shoppers to buy products from Walmart-owned Flipkart directly through Gemini and AI Mode. Test users see a "Buy" button on select Flipkart listings that leads straight to a Flipkart checkout flow without leaving the AI interface. The early test is limited to some users and a small set of products (smartphones, electronics, mobile accessories); a broader rollout is planned for later in October. This expands Google's AI services from product discovery into transactions, and the author wonders how other Indian e-commerce players view the exclusive Flipkart relationship.
