Using Claude to Reverse-Engineer ILovePDF: 15 Techniques Validated on 5,000 PDFs

The author shares a hands-on playbook for having Claude replace a dev team: rather than digging into PDF format quirks, he gave Claude sample files and asked it to figure out why ILovePDF.com performs so well. Claude came up with fifteen techniques — image resizing, font merging, metadata removal, and more.
The evaluation plan: have Claude assemble a suite of 5,000 PDFs from open-source test suites, then batch-run prompts against them to benchmark performance against the commercial benchmark. Pre-AI, building this would have required a team of developers.
