Meta's Muse agent tops US App Store in two weeks, out-downloading early ChatGPT

It's powered by Muse Spark, the first model from Meta Superintelligence Labs (April release), and is CAO Alexandr Wang's first consumer product after Meta's $14.3B purchase of 49% of Scale AI.
- Traction: Hit #1 on the US App Store free chart on Sept 18, ahead of ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Instagram. Apptopia estimates 1.8M US/Canada iOS downloads in the first 12 days vs ChatGPT's 1.3M at launch (unofficial). Wang pushed it with daily posts and a "make $1,000 with Muse" challenge; per Business Insider, many replies came from Meta employees and savings claims are unverified.
- Connect updates: Mac app that can control desktop apps; usable via new camera-less Ray-Ban glasses and a pocket device called Muse Charm (ships December). Shopping integrations include Walmart, Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Wayfair with Shop Pay and PayPal; productivity ties into Box, GitHub, Granola, Notion. Amazon still blocks it.
