Apple ordered to pay $5.72B in largest US patent verdict ever over haptics tech

A US jury has ordered Apple to pay $5.72 billion to Taction Technology — the largest patent verdict in US history.
The patents cover tactile transducers that electromagnetically move an internal mass and damp its resonance (including with ferrofluid) to create touch-perceived vibration. Taction argued Apple's Taptic Engine in iPhones and Apple Watches falls within those claims; Apple disputes the ruling.
