Zuck on Muse's three differentiators: fleet learning and confidential VMs

In a recent interview, Mark Zuckerberg laid out three core differentiators for Meta's Muse personal agent:
1. Purpose-built from the ground up: not a generic model in a wrapper, but designed from the base for personal agents, with roughly monthly model releases that keep getting smarter.
2. Social DNA: Muse doesn't just do tasks — it helps maintain family and friendships. Zuckerberg described a "fleet": the collective of all users' Muse agents, learning from anonymized group experience and combining it with each user's needs. Most of the industry treats agents as single-player games; agents coordinating with each other unlocks more. These features aren't shipped yet, but the direction is clear: Muse gets better the more people you know use it.
3. Privacy and security: Muse needs access to messages, email, and health data. Drawing on WhatsApp's encryption experience, Meta hired Signal founder Moxie Marlinspike to build confidential VMs — cloud-side personal data even Meta can't see, with technical verification. Credentials are stored separately with support for one-time card numbers; sentinel agents inspect traffic and flag suspicious instructions. Pricing: 100M free tokens per week plus a VM, with long-term plans for small transaction commissions handled via Stripe.
