Per Nature, Anthropic has launched a biology wet lab where human scientists and AI agents jointly design and conduct experiments. One of the team's first findings: a peculiar DNA pattern in the genomes of several giant viruses.
Researcher Marinka Zitnik highlights that AI agents are now searching genomic databases at scale; the next step is testing candidates with increasingly strong hard verifiers and feeding results back into the loop. She also notes that verifying AI outputs in biology differs fundamentally from verification in code and math.
