A Reddit user argues Opus 5.5 is the first model that, for them personally, passes the Turing test. They stress the test was meant as a per-person thought experiment — an AI expert judging when they can no longer tell AI from human — not a population survey, so earlier claims of it being passed miss the point.
Unlike every previous model, which always had "it didn't actually understand, it was faking" moments, Opus 5.5 never breaks the illusion: remaining issues trace to miscommunication or genuinely hard problems, never to the model being too limited to grasp a concept. They call it a watershed "handoff from me to my successor" moment.
