Practitioner: Jevons-style single-decision AI beats big agentic runs on cost

Responding to Brad Groux's skepticism about Jevons-paradox hype, brandongalang argues the real opportunity is in small, single routing/classification decisions (pass/reject, HR vs Finance, escalate or not) rather than large agentic runs. He agrees AI adoption in midmarket businesses is "a people problem" — why Microsoft, Google, Amazon, OpenAI and Anthropic are spending over $6B to hire FDEs. His own 3-month project could be fully replaced by low-cost Jev-style decisions with greater coverage and better economics.
