Engineer Yacine argues kernel optimization isn't creativity-bound: with baseline intelligence that can exploit symmetries, frontier models can churn on it indefinitely — he claims he got Chinese Allwinner NPU image-processing kernels running extremely fast this way. He adds that most software work is uncreative config-plugging and regression-fixing, and even "novel" designs like notification pipelines are absurdly automatable via searched parameters, driving costs to the bare minimum.
