Full fly connectome runs live in your browser at 60+fps, with six open-source Cadence demos
CatAstro_Piyush · x · 2026-09-26
muellerberndt demonstrated a digital copy of the complete fruit fly connectome controlling its virtual body live in the browser at 60+fps, and open-sourced the accompanying project, cadence-examples.
The repo contains six complete examples built on the Cadence framework:
- The worm: uses the 302-neuron C. elegans connectome as the sole wiring, implemented as a PartitionedTemporalPatchNet, showing learning from experience in a single life with simple affect (food/pain) and direct motor control
- Other demos (Amen, Patch World, Connect Four, dozing cat, fly-matrix) each highlight a different side of the same architecture
Each example ships with its own README, a live page, receipts recomputing every stated number, and parity tests ensuring the browser-run brain matches the library's arithmetic. Everything runs from a static folder.
