MLXUI: Open-Source Local AI Browser for Apple Silicon with One-Click Model Installs

A new open-source project, MLXUI, gives Apple Silicon Macs a local AI browser UI: browse mlx-community models by type, filter by what fits your RAM, and install with one click — each model type gets its own interface.
- Chat UI for Llama 3/Qwen/Gemma/Mistral/DeepSeek
- Mic and transcript for Whisper/Voxtral, voice picker for Kokoro/Chatterbox
- Image drop for vision models and OCR, vector output for BGE/Nomic/ModernBERT
Everything runs locally with no API keys and no telemetry. Free and open source, requires Apple Silicon and macOS 14. Still early; the author is soliciting model and quant prioritization feedback.
